1. Titanium carbide nanoparticles are the hardest of the transition metal carbides, but they are too fragile to be used purely. They are added to tungsten-based carbide at 5-30% by weight to increase hardness and the performance of high-temperature cutting tools.
2. TiC is sometimes used to coat the cutting surfaces of these tools. Tungsten-free cutting tools can be obtained through the combination of TiC nanoparticles, molybdenum carbide and nickel.
3. Titanium carbide nanoparticles are used as alloy additives.
4. Use titanium carbide nanoparticles as surface material.
5. This compound performs well in producing abrasives, grinding stones, etc.
6. Caribbean titanium is used as welding wire and drilling wire.
7. Nanoparticles are used to prepare cermets.
8. Wear-resistant surface coatings for metal parts such as tools.
9. Thermal insulation coating for spacecraft atmospheric return.
10. TiC is also used in general tool manufacturing and the chemical industry as an important component of ferrotitanium sintered materials.
11. Used to produce wear-resistant materials, sharp tools, etc.
12. Titanium coatings improve alloys, abrasive steel bearings, pipes and cutting tools.
13. Used to prepare titanium foam ceramic materials. The foam ceramic incorporates a filter so any type of fluid container will work effectively, except that the filter mechanism will stir up the adsorption.
14. The application of titanium carbide nanoparticle layers for metal shaping is carried out by a CVD process at approximately 1000°C. This guarantees maximum grip. With the CVD process, layer thicknesses up to 9 μm can be achieved, which is a welcome wear reserve in many applications.
15. Titanium carbide nanoparticles have become the basis of modern high-hardness materials, heat-resistant electrodes, industrial arc lamps, wear-resistant drilling equipment and special tools. It is used in powder form as a graphite additive and graphite substitute.
16. In electrolysis, TiC is used as an electrode with a mercury cathode. Such electrodes are indispensable in underwater electrical self-cutting of steel – they enable electrode consumption 6 to 10 times lower than with conventional electrodes.
17. Used to coat graphite electrodes in electric arc furnaces.
18. Heat-resistant shields, thermocouple housings, crucibles, boats, glass, semiconductors, metals and non-metals for the production of combustion equipment.
