Chemical properties of tantalum oxide are diamond shaped columns. Melting point 1872 ℃± 10 ℃.
Tantalum oxide, white powder, insoluble in water and acid, soluble in molten potassium bisulfate and hydrofluoric acid. Melting point: 1800 ℃, relative density 8.2g/cm3. The chemical properties are similar to niobium oxide.
Soluble in molten potassium bisulfate and hydrofluoric acid, insoluble in water and other acids, insoluble in water, acids, and bases (excluding hydrofluoric acid), it is an amphoteric compound that reacts with bases to generate various oxygen-containing salts, such as LiTaO3, KTaO3, Sr2Ta2O7, etc; Tantalum exists in cationic form in acidic solutions, such as TaOPO4, Ta2 (SO4) 5, etc.
Potassium fluotantalate method: Heat potassium fluotantalate and sulfuric acid to 400 ℃, add water to the reactant until boiling, fully dilute to hydrolyze the acidified solution, generate hydrated oxide precipitation, and then separate, wash, and dry to obtain tantalum pentoxide finished product.
Metal tantalum oxidation method: Dissolve metal tantalum sheets in a mixture of nitric acid and hydrofluoric acid, extract and purify them, precipitate tantalum hydroxide with ammonia water, and then wash, dry, burn, and grind them to obtain finished tantalum pentoxide.
It is used for drawing lithium tantalate single crystal and manufacturing special optical glass with high refraction and low dispersion, and can be used as catalyst in chemical industry.

The product is powder, white or light yellow, mainly used in the production of tantalum powder, tantalum strip and tantalum carbide.
Used for the production of ordinary ceramic piezoelectric ceramics and ceramic capacitors. And the production of optical glass additives and tantalate crystals.
